A Sentimental Journey with the NMBB
Monday 17 October 2016
After very successful appearances in 2014 and 2015 we again offer the Sentimental Journey with NMBB in 2017. What is it about?
It is a nostalgic music afternoon or evening for residents of elderly care institutions and elderly housing in the Amersfoort region. Following our performance in Woonzorgcentrum 't Hamersveld in Leusden, many enthusiastic reactions from the audience affected us greatly. Some residents were moved to tears, many were ecstatic and others did a little dance. That afternoon we realized that these people greatly enjoyed our music and that our music brought them together with others who attended this afternoon. We provide an afternoon or evening with music from the 20s to 60, such as Count Basie, Shirley Bassey, George Gershwin, Glenn Miller and Sammy Nestico. Our singer sings many hits from that period such as Fly me to the moon, The lady is a tramp, It do not mean a thing, Fever, Summertime, Big Spender and Feeling Good.
How does it work?
The 'Sentimental Journey' takes 2 to 2.5 hours and takes place in your recreation room (minimum 400m2) on an afternoon or evening we together decide in consultation. We agree a the start and end time and whether there is possibility to dance. The NMBB in principle plays unplugged; only the vocals are amplified. We do our utmost to reduce the noise level. Naturally, you as host institution itself, decide about the provision of beverages and / or snacks for the visitors.
What does it cost?
For a 'Sentimental Journey' we will gladly make you an offer. A portion of the cost you can recover by inviting family, friends and neighbors and ask them a fee for attending. In order to lower your costs, we attempt to require a contribution from third parties. In the past that was succesful.
Please let us know if you are interested to allow a performance by the New Manhattan Big Band in your institution in 2017. You can express your interest by calling us or sending an e-mail. We will then discuss with you whether and how to organize a gig.
So email to pr@nmbb.nl for more information or an appointment.
We hope to meet you in 2017 during our 'Sentimental Journey'!
